Hikes to the Col de la Forclaz


The ascent of the Col de la Forclaz from the end of the lake

This 11 km hike from Doussard is of medium difficulty. It takes one day or half a day, in about 4 hours. It is a round trip, not a loop. Its starting point takes place in the hamlet Verthier, and it goes up either to the pass, or a little higher still to the belvedere, a little less than 6 km. From the Col de la Forclaz to the chalet de l'Aulp

From the Col de la Forclaz car park, this loop runs along the Nant and crosses several hamlets to the Col de l'Aulp chalet, before returning via the Pointe de la Rochette. A hike from pass to pass, lasting approximately 4 hours 30 minutes, and a distance of 9.5 km. Several views of Lake Annecy. The stop at the tip of La Rochette is an opportunity to see the ballet of paragliders taking off and hovering over the lake.

Family hike to the tip of La Rochette

To admire the flight of paragliders during a shorter hike, for example with children, you can go to Pointe de la Rochette directly from the Col de la Forclaz. The site is signposted from the parking lot. The round trip will take you approximately two hours, counting 1h15 for the ascent and 45 minutes for the descent. This option gives you time to enjoy the show on arrival, and to eat at the col de la Forclaz refreshment bar on your return. It’s a great hike for half a day of vacation. The distance is 4 km round trip, and the vertical drop of 350 m.

Pointe de Talamarche via the Col de la Forclaz

A great hike to start early to easily park your vehicle in the parking lot of the Col de la Forclaz. With 16 km to go, she asks that we devote a whole day preferably. Allow about 6 hours of walking. From the chalet de la Forclaz, head first to the nearby paragliding take-off area, then on the path which goes up to the Col de la Cochette. Then head for the Rocher de Roux, with a beautiful view of the lake. The hike continues to the chalet de l'Aulp, the chalet des Crottes, then the col des Nantets. The tip of Talamarche is in sight, just follow the small path that goes up there. The return is by the same route.

Little stroll on the Col de la Forclaz

A very short hike for people who cannot walk for a long time or for vacationers accompanied by very young children. From the Forclaz car park, a path climbs up the pass, to a paragliding take-off area: the walking time is 15 minutes, which promises you a half-hour round trip , with a striking spectacle. Upon arrival, picnic tables and restrooms are available. The route is taken by the vans of the paragliding clubs.
