This route that connects the lakes of Annecy and Bourget through Rumilly is very significant in the summer because it will offer you the opportunity to swim to and from the two largest natural lakes in France. The ride is short (about 190 km) but very interesting. You will climb some very beautiful passes (Cat passes, Sapenay pass, La Forclaz pass), go down charming bend roads with superb views of the alpine pastures, especially by approaching the Aravis massif and the Bauges massif. . If you have time to stroll along the way, stop at Aix-les-Bains to cool your engine and admire the beautiful villas built on the heights overlooking Lake Bourget.
If you love to ride your bike for hours on long distances, this wonderful route is definitely for you. A 510 km roadtrip and nearly 12 hours of driving, during which the breathtaking landscapes, the passes and the laces succeed each other. From Annecy, take the D1508 along the west shore of the lake to Sévrier, then the D912 to Saint-Eustache. Cross La Chapelle-Saint-Maurice, Leschaux, Ecole and Châteauneuf to Albertville. After the Bauges massif, you will arrive at the doors of the Vanoise National Park (Salin-les-Thermes, Bourg-Saint-Maurice, Beaufort). You will then go up towards Flumet and Megève, and will be surrounded by majestic alpine massifs. Your itinerary will continue along the Aravis Pass (La Clusaz), Le Grand Bornand, Cluses, Samoens, Morzine, Montriond and La Vernaz. Once arrived in Thonon-les-Bains, let go of your handlebars, remove your helmet and sit on the terrace to enjoy the privileged view of Lake Geneva.
During your holidays at L'Idéal campsite, you can also go on many other beautiful motorcycle rides around Lake Annecy. The La Forclaz pass is one of the most popular because of its proximity, its beautiful turns and the breathtaking view of the lake from the summit. The Col de Bluffy has a particular charm because it allows you to appreciate from the heights the towers of the castle of Menthon-Saint-Bernard. Another option for the hunters of beautiful landscapes: climb the Col du Pré from Beaufort that will take you over Lake Roselend, then continue to the Cormet before descending to Bourg-Saint-Maurice. The crossing of the gorges of Devil's Bridge (The Jotty) also promises its share of emotions.
From Friday 6th to Sunday 8th of July 2018, Valmeinier in Savoie will have a major event for bikers: the Moto Trail 2018. Valmeinier is located at 3 000 m of altitude, at 1h30 by motorbike of the campsite by the Motorway of the Maurienne, at 1h45 by the D1006. The festival will host a show with exhibitors and a test area. Day and half day outings will be organized. During the 3 days, the village will be animated by concerts and various spectacles (including stuntmen). The camping and the bivouac will be allowed.
